Here is a little secret about factory ceiling heaters: it’s rarely the heating element that gives out. Usually, the element is fine. The real culprit? The lead-wire connection. Think about it. You’re running these things at insane industrial temperatures. The spot where the electrical wire meets the quartz tube takes a beating. Most assembly lines just leave that junction exposed or slap some cheap insulation on it. Over time, the heat just eats it alive.
The slow crawl toward a short circuit
High heat and oxidation are a nasty combination. They chew through standard insulation until it cracks. Once that happens, you get arcing. Now, if you’ve got a heater mounted on a ceiling, arcing isn’t just a technical glitch—it’s a fire hazard. We handle this differently. We don’t bother with basic heat-shrink tubing.
