
Keeping Your Class 100 Cleanroom Actually Clean
When you’re working in a Class 100 environment, heat is a tricky beast. It’s not just about getting the temperature right. It’s about the invisible stuff. Most standard heaters are a nightmare in these spaces. They outgas or shed tiny flakes of debris—stuff you can’t see, but that will absolutely wreck a semiconductor wafer or a piece of high-precision optics. That’s why we stick with high-purity synthetic quartz infrared lamps.
Why the quartz matters
We use fused silica that’s clean enough to stop metallic ions from leaking out, even when the wattage is cranked up. Cheap glass or low-grade quartz tends to crack or flake when you heat it up and cool it down quickly. Our tubes don’t do that. They stay intact, which means your production line stays dust-free. Plus, these lamps use short-wave IR radiation. Instead of heating up all the air around the part—which creates those annoying convection currents that blow particles all over your workspace—the energy goes straight into the substrate. It’s cleaner. Much cleaner.
No cheap shortcuts
We’re obsessive about the connection points. No adhesives. No cheap plastics. Instead, we use ceramic supports and gold-plated or high-grade alloy contacts. Why? Because when things get hot, cheap materials “burn off” volatile organic compounds (VOCs). We just don’t let that happen.
A few things to watch out for
Here’s the catch: high-purity quartz is great for IR energy, but it’s a bit more brittle than the borosilicate glass you might be used to. Whatever you do, don’t touch the tubes with your bare hands. The oils from your skin leave deposits that create “hot spots.” Those spots are killers—they cause the tube to fail way sooner than it should. If you’re swapping these out on the floor, grab some lint-free gloves and some IPA wipes. We designed these for fast ramp-ups and precise curing. You get the heat density you need without the particulate risk that usually comes with industrial gear.
